About Sarah
“I've always been drawn to the space between people."
Not the small talk but the real stuff. The moments where someone finally says the thing they've been holding. The shift that happens when two people stop defending and start listening. That space is where I do my best work and after 20 years, I still feel privileged every time someone lets me in.
“Conflict isn’t the enemy, it’s the doorway and our relationships are one of our greatest teachers.”
This work chose me long before I chose it.
My path into counselling started on the front line. I began as a family and violence crisis volunteer, sitting with people in their hardest moments and learning what it really means to hold space. That experience shaped everything that followed years of training, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling, and a deepening commitment to understanding what makes relationships work.
In 2011 I discovered Imago Relationship Therapy, and it changed the way I saw everything. Imago gave me a framework that matched what I'd always felt instinctively, that conflict isn't the enemy, it's the doorway. That our relationships are our greatest teachers. I knew I wanted to bring this to as many people as possible, and in 2025 I became a certified Imago Workshop Presenter one of a small number in New Zealand."
I notice things others may not.
People often tell me they feel seen in our sessions — not just heard, but genuinely understood. I think that comes from paying close attention. To what's being said, and to what isn't. To the patterns beneath the surface and the courage it takes to show up and do this work.
My approach is warm, direct, and grounded in evidence. I work with individuals, couples, and families — and I believe that the tools we build in one relationship ripple out into every other. Whether we're working through something specific or exploring something you can't quite name yet, my job is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest and supported enough to grow.
I welcome everyone into my practice. Regardless of your background, identity, orientation, or neurotype — if you're here, you belong here."
Credentials“I've spent 20 years deepening my practice because the people I work with deserve someone who never stops learning.”
