So what’s IMAGO Relationship therapy?

Imago Relationship Therapy is a transformative approach to understanding yourself and the people you love. Developed by Dr. Harville Hendrix and Dr. Helen LaKelly Hunt in the 1980s, it's built on a powerful idea: that our relationships aren't random, they're mirrors. And the tension we feel with the people closest to us isn't a sign that something is broken. It's an invitation to grow.

The result of IMAGO Therapy isn’t just less conflict. It’s a completely different experience of being in relationship one where you feel heard, understood, and genuinely safe.

Most approaches to therapy focus on managing conflict or improving communication skills. Imago goes deeper. It helps you understand why you react the way you do, and why your partner, family member, or loved one does too. It traces the patterns that show up in your relationships back to their roots, giving you the insight to respond differently and connect more fully.

This isn't traditional therapy

IMAGO is for everyone.

While Imago was originally developed for couples, its tools are powerful across every kind of relationship. Sarah works with individuals exploring their own patterns, couples rebuilding or deepening their connection, and families learning new ways to communicate and understand each other.

It's also deeply inclusive. Whatever your background, identity, orientation, or neurotype, Imago meets you where you are.

What actually happens in IMAGO therapy?

At the centre of Imago is a structured dialogue - a guided way of speaking and listening that most people have never experienced before. It sounds simple, but it's profound. You learn to truly hear what someone is saying without jumping to defend. You learn to express what you feel without shutting down or escalating. And you start to see the person in front of you really see them maybe for the first time.

These aren't abstract concepts. They're practical tools you take home and use in your life, your conversations, and your most important relationships.
